Neil Simon's critically acclaimed comedy/drama, “Chapter Two,” hits The Barn Theatre stage from March 10th – March 26th. The plot is simple. Recent widower George Schneider is encouraged by his younger brother, Leo, to start dating again, which sends George into even greater depression after a series of bad matches. Then Leo comes up with Jennie Malone and she is a keeper, but it's still a bumpy ride on the road to dating for these not-so-long lovers. The wonderful thing about this play is that Neil Simon masterfully finds humor in their grief, divorce and rocky relationships. Indeed, Simon is once quoted as saying, “My view is how sad and funny life is. I can't think of a humorous situation that does not involve some pain. I used to ask, 'what is a funny situation?' Now I ask, 'what is a sad situation and how can I tell it humorously?” Well, Simon hits a winner with Chapter Two, and the audiences will enjoy the emotional rollercoaster.
“Chapter Two,” which is directed by veteran playwright and director Howard Brown, features Meredith Osborn, Susan Haase Carnasiotis, Tony Richards, and Michael Beecher. Brown directed Meredith, Susan and Tony in last season's highly successful Barn production of “Sex Please, We're Sixty,” which sold out every performance.
