:: Volunteer Opportunities - BE A PART OF THE ARTS ::
Volunteering takes many shapes and sizes at the Art Council. A brief description of some of the many ways you can help are listed below.

CULTURAL CENTER WELCOME & INFORMATION: Volunteers act as hosts to the many people who visit the Cultural Center for the year-round exhibits. Volunteers greet visitors and attend openings as hosts. Docents, who choose to, may be trained as guides for school groups.

MEMBERSHIP: Committee volunteers are responsible for on-going outreach for new members. May include special receptions/functions and solicitation of new audiences.
ARTS FOUNDATION: A subsidiary of the Arts Council, the Arts Foundation will be working to build an endowment and solicit major gifts/planned gifts.

FIRST THURSDAY - GALLERY NIGHTS: volunteers can help with gallery relationships distribution of materials monthly and being an ambassador to reach out to galleries on the night of the event on our behalf
ArtsFestŠ ARTS: A two-day celebration of the arts held in Memorial Park, historic downtown Stuart. Volunteer needs include members on a steering committee to plan the event as well as day of volunteers with a host of responsibilities.
MARTIES ART AWARDS: Held for the first time, November 2003, this event showcases and honors artists, community leaders and businesses who are responsible for the success of the arts in our community. Committee members solicit sponsorship, assist with the nomination and selection process, video production, coordinate the "stage show" and other duties related to producing a special event.
ART IS EVERYWHERE TOUR: This tour of homes features artists' residences and studios with collections of art and interesting architecture. Volunteers help to find homes for the tour, organize the day's events and serve as hosts at the homes during the event.

The art in education committee is the overall committee that guides arts education programming areas in addition to serving as advocates for arts education.
Artist in Residence Program: A program that places artist in schools sharing their artistic skills with students and teachers. Volunteers assist with selection of schools, matching artists to programs and follow along support once the residencies are in place.
Granting: Volunteers serve on a panel to review grant requests and make recommendations for funding. Funds are garnered through arts license plate sales.
Picture People: Volunteers work in elementary schools presenting and discussing prints with students (typically at the 3rd grade level).
High School Juried Art Show: An annual exhibition featuring the fine work of local high school students. Volunteers are used to plan the opening reception, assist with sponsorship and coordinate with teachers and the school district.

Volunteers are needed to assist with basic office functions, including filing, data entry, mailing invitations/newsletters, and other related tasks.
