The Arts Council provides a wide variety of programs for the benefit of the Martin County community that support our mission and vision for the arts being integrated in our community and meaningful to people's lives. The Council believes strongly that educating our youth about art is vitally important to the development of their creativity, strengthening of their leadership skills and improvement of their academic work. Included in these programs is an artist in residence at Hobe Sound Elementary supported by the Hobe Sound Community Chest, Picture People and more. More than 1600 students every school year are reached through these programs.
The Council partners with Martin Memorial Health Systems to highlight the advantages of arts as people heal their hearts, minds and bodies. Through our grants, the Council supports not only arts education, but also outreach to bring the arts to underserved areas of our community and populations. For example, the Council on Aging has received funding to bring an arts therapist to work with the Alzheimer's patients in their adult day care program.
