EPA: Environmental Performance Art
The Fredric M. Ayres, III Gallery
April 2- May 8
Presented in this gallery is a selection of eight artists from the seminal New York exhibition of this title. EPA was the first project of the New York City exhibition space Exit Art and their SEA (Social-Environmental Aesthetics) initiative.
EPA, initiated by Exit Art's Papo Colo and curated by Patricia Watts and Amy Lipton of ecoartspace, surveys recent performance works emanating from the 1960s tradition of happenings and Fluxus events.
EPA demonstrates a range of performative strategies that artists are using currently to address climate change, watershed depletion and overdevelopment, and their effects on habitats and ecosystems, both human and non-human.
