Sunset Concerts at the Gallery: “Blessings, Bernstein, and the Beatles!”
Pianist Marie Jureit-Beamish, Professor Emerita of Music at Principia College and former Charles Stewart Harding Mott Distinguished Professor of Music, presents a concert highlighting spirited and uplifting music celebrating two of the most significant musicians of the twentieth century—American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein (1918-2018) and the revolutionary Beatles from England. You will recognize favorites from Bernstein’s West Side Story, On the Town, and Wonderful Town, as well as classic tunes from the Beatles, including: “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Yesterday,” and “All You Need is Love,” to name but a few. Also on the program are inspired arrangements by Mark Hayes of three tunes glorifying God— “Come Christians, Join to Sing,” “All Creatures of Our God and King,” and concluding with a rousing version of “How Great Thou Art.” This is a concert of pure joy!
Debuting in the of Fall 2015, with support from Marie Jureit-Beamish, Sunset Concerts at the Gallery features Martin County's most talented musicians in a unique and intimate setting that combines the fine and performing arts in one space. We are excited to announce that our Sunset Concert at the Gallery series will resume October 2018 through June 2019, FREE and open to the public.
