Cultural Conversations

Cultural Conversations our many efforts to engage the community in all things artistic with a goal to inspire greater participation in and a passion for the arts in our community. Through our Cultural Conversations, we intend to provide interesting and evocative dialogue designed around P.L.A.C.E. (people, land, arts, culture and engagement). Cultural Conversations includes the occasional series, Inspired By... in it's repertoire.

2020 Season Teaser:

Food & Culture | January 

Local chefs and food experts will discuss the concept of food as art and the creative possibilities of the culinary arts. Guest experts include Lorna Day, author, food critic, and owner of Ooo La La Catering. Joining her will be chef Olivia Ostrow, the chef/owner of O Gourmet French Bistro and Catering in downtown Stuart. Laura Richardson, owner of The Flavor Excursion, a culinary tour company based in Stuart Florida will round out the discussion which will be facilitated by Paul Nunley, coordinator of ArtsFest’s culinary competition “Chopped”.  

Beethoven | February 

Celebrate Beethoven’s 250th year with inspiring insights given by Dr. Marie Jureit-Beamish, Professor Emerita of Music from Principia College.  

Shakespeare's Villains - What Makes Them So Much Fun? | March

Why are villains so much fun?  How did Shakespeare create such compelling villains?  What were his inspirations, and where do we see these villains in today's world?  Presented by Dennis O’Donovan, ACT Studio Theatre.

Denise Justice | April 

Denise Justice is a professional artist of 40 years and is as enthusiastic today about art as when she was a young girl. She is a painter, restorer, innovator and instructor. ​​​​​​​

Cultural Conversations: Food & Culture

The Arts Foundation for Martin County is pleased to present another riveting season of Cultural Conversations, an enriching series designed to engage the community in discussions of cultural interest. We have an exciting line up of diverse cultural topics on a variety of art-forms created with a host of experts eager to share their passion for the arts with our guests.

January 16th kicks off Cultural Conversations with a panel discussion on the Culinary Arts. Local chefs and food experts will discuss the concept of food as art and the creative possibilities of the culinary arts. Tickets: $15/person. Member benefits include tickets at the $125 level and above.
