The Barn Theatre presents The Full Monty

Sunday, October 3, 2021

The Tony Award nominated musical comedy, “The Full Monty” hits the Barn stage for the first time and as its Director, Jim Docter, says, “This is one show you will never see a high school perform.” A raucous pop-rock-musical send-up of gender expectations and stereotypes...that takes it all off! The unemployed men of a now-closed steel mill do household chores, while the womenfolk draw the paychecks and enjoy the privileges of weekly girls-nights-out devoted to ogling male striptease artists. When the men note the monetary rewards of bearing booty, it inspires a scheme for restoring solvency – not to mention morale. They become amateur dancers instructed in burlesque bump-and-grind by the former factory supervisor to piano accompaniment supplied by a geriatric vaudevillian. The big question remains to be answered. Will they bear it all?
