MartinArts Awards: Celebrating 20 YearsÂ
Raising $20,000 to Fund Future Scholarships
In honor of this milestone, MartinArts is launching a restricted fund that will provide funding for student scholarships for the next 20 years (or more) of the MartinArts Awards. In honor of the 20th Anniversary, our goal is to open the fund with an investment of $20,000.
A component of being selected as a student recipient of a MartinArts Award in the performing, visual or literary arts, the students also receive a scholarship. In 2023 the scholarship will be $1,000 and with the establishment of this fund we plan to increase it in future years.
Students are selected as the recipient of an award by a panel that includes experts in their field and civic representatives. The nominees are evaluated by the information they provide on an application, a sample of their art, and an in-person interview.
During the Awards Night celebration, all nominees are recognized at the event:
- performing arts students are invited to partner with a fellow nominee to perform,
- literary students are given a writing prompt and these are read by local actors, and
- visual arts students works are projected on the screen.
Funds will be held in a separate, restricted account to be used for the sole purpose of future scholarships. With a minimum donation of $200 designated for the scholarship fund, you will receive 2 VIP tickets (inclusive of the pre-awards VIP party and VIP seating at the awards ceremony at the Lyric) for November 8, 2023. The cost of the tickets ($100) is not deductible, but if you waive the tickets, 100% of your donation will be designated to the scholarship fund.
