I have been painting seriously for about 15 years, although I have been interested in art all my life. I am self-taught with plenty of studio art classes and workshops under my belt. My early paintings were realistic watercolors. After studying with several artists, I gradually moved into oils and acrylics. These days I paint mostly in acrylic, although I have not abandoned watercolor. My favorite subjects are landscape and still life. But in the past few years I've experimented increasingly with abstract subject matter, which lends itself to acrylic paint and mixed media with pastels and various acrylic mediums. In all my paintings, I pay special attention to color, and I'm drawn to the depth, intensity and sheer beauty of many acrylic paint colors. I love to incorporate these paints in my art, especially my abstracts where adherence to realistic colors is not a requirement. My paintings have been juried into shows in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida, and have been presented in a solo invitational show in Pennsylvania.
