About Me

I was born in Sweden to parents in the diplomatic service. My childhood gave me an exposure to many parts of the world, particularly ocean travel on the South Atlantic as well as the North Atlantic and the Baltic Sea.  I ended up on the North Shore of Long Island with a husband who loved sailing, and so, more exposure to the sea, Long Island Sound and points East.  When I started painting, after a number of years of experimenting with ceramics, sculpture, and printmaking, I realized I had had a long connection to water which inspired my land seascapes around this area for many years.

I graduated from the New School and Parsons in New York with a major in Art and furthered my studies over the years at the Art Student’s League, The National Academy, the Blackburn Printmaking Studio, the Stevenson Academy, the Women’s Studio Workshop, the Silvermine Guild, and the Vermont Studio Center, where I received a fellowship.

My work is in both private and public collections. Over the years I’ve participated in many juried exhibitions and invitational shows throughout Vermont, Connecticut, and New York, most notably at Gallery North, Setauket, Long Island since 1989. I’ve also been in several exhibitions at the Heckscher Museum, Huntington, New York, most recently in their 2012 Biennial.
