As an artist I cannot get away from the compelling need of making objects. To create these objects I do not use conventional sculptural materials such as wood or clay, rather my attention has always been drawn toward leaves, barks, vines, threads, and fabrics which can be easily woven, sewn, or knotted together to obtain textured, pliable surfaces. The techniques I use to build these objects come from my deep rooted involvement with traditional female crafts. In the past these techniques were used to make clothes, curtains, and a variety of other utilitarian pieces. Now they are the source for my creativity.
