Painting for me is a quest to create something beautiful in response to the gift of creation given by the Great Creator. Look a rusty pail. What do you see? I see a tapestry of textures, shapes and warm opalescent colors. The Old Dutch Masters have had the greatest influence in my developing an 'artist eye'. Since starting to paint I have learned to see the beauty and elegance in even the simplest of subjects, to marvel at the play of light and color when the sun rises, and the way it rakes across the scene before me. It is this beauty and elegance that I strive for each time I begin a new painting.
