Ronald Corbin Scholarship Fund

About

In 2005, at an event celebrating Ron Corbin’s 25th Anniversary as a teacher in the Martin County School District, Foundation Board Chair, Craig Price (also an OPUS Parent), announced that in Corbin’s honor, a scholarship had been established in his name.

As is still true today, OPUS (Outstanding People United to Sing) is widely recognized as one of the most outstanding high school choirs in the world. It attracts musically gifted high school students who are eager to be a part of this prestigious group. OPUS is a resident arts education program at Martin County High School. Although Mr. Corbin retired several years ago, his legacy continues as the students enrich their lives by being a part of the choir while they enrich the lives of those for whom they perform.

The annual recipient of the Corbin Scholarship is selected by the program director and is student who has demonstrated leadership skills during their tenure with OPUS and is continuing their education in the field of music or music education. The scholarship is a 4-year $500/year award with proof from the recipient that they are still enrolled in their degree program.

Gifts to the scholarship fund are accepted and will allow the program to continue well into the future.
