Suzanne Mogavero

Nominated by: Debbie Butler

“Recently my poem FIRE was published in an impact magazine for nonprofits, which was an incredibly meaningful moment for me as it bridged my creative voice with my passion for advocacy.  The poem reflects resilience and transformation – core themes that run through my work.  Additionally, while the children’s books I write do not focus directly on trauma, they are deeply rooted in themes of community, courage, diversity, and empowerment.  I believe in the importance of planting seeds of self-worth, imagination, and belonging at an early age.  My goal is to use story telling as a joyful, uplifting tool that helps children see themselves as powerful and important – no matter their background.  I aim to create work that is emotionally honest, accessible, and capable of making a positive impact on individuals and communities alike.”
