Catherine Zanghi

I create expressive, light-filled art inspired by nature, animals, architecture, water, and meaningful moments of connection. Working primarily with oils and acrylics, I use layered color, luminous contrasts, and atmospheric detail to bring movement, emotion, and a sense of presence to my work.

My paintings often begin with a visual impression, an intuitive response, or a deeper meaning I feel within the subject. As the work develops, I allow the creative process to guide the imagery. Whether portraying a landscape, an animal, or a symbolic form, I seek to express beauty, serenity, transformation, resilience, and our connection with the natural world.

My evolving artistic practice includes an increasingly dimensional, mixed-media process. I am exploring natural and handmade papers, built textures, crystals, mica, metal leaf, metallic pigments, and other organic or reflective elements. These materials allow light, texture, symbolism, and the physical surface of the artwork to become an integral part of the visual experience.

I am also committed to researching and utilizing natural, environmentally responsible, and lower-toxicity materials whenever possible. I continue to explore ways to reduce harmful substances and unnecessary waste while creating art that is increasingly respectful of my health, the viewer, and the earth.

My hope is that each piece offers more than a visual experience—inviting viewers to pause, connect, reflect, and discover their own personal meaning within the work.
