Charles White

Charles’ appreciation and, ultimately, love of art began during his 4-year stint at UC Berkeley in the 1970’s. The 1970’s Berkeley atmosphere was a great place to nurture one’s creative side. Unfortunately, obligations, both career and family, suppressed the inner artist from emerging until much later. After retiring, he needed only one Winter on N. Hutchinson Island to fall in love with the natural beauty of Florida. He developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the ocean and tropical flora and thus began his artistic journey. He moved permanently to Palm City the following November with a commitment to capture that beauty on canvas. Charles paints mostly tropical themes; seascapes, landscapes, flowers, and marine life. His paintings have been in the Helping People Succeed calendar for 2024, 2025 and 2026. He frequently paints with Brenda Leigh at the Artist Nook and has shown his work in several private exhibits and along with other calendar artists at the Elliott Museum.
