Katie Deits
An active exhibiting artist, Katie Deits works in painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. She is a member of the International Association of Art Critics and is a juried member of Oil Painters of America. Her work has been recognized with numerous honors, including a South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship and the Muse Art Ambassador Award for St. Petersburg. She serves on the boards of Artists of Palm Beach County and Plein Air Palm Beach, and is a member of The Ceramic League of the Palm Beaches.
Katie is an accomplished arts executive, artist, writer, curator, and educator whose career has spanned four decades in the visual arts and nonprofit cultural sector. A graduate of the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, she has held executive leadership positions with major arts organizations, including CEO of Florida CraftArt and Executive Director of the Lighthouse ArtCenter Museum & School of Art. She is a Certified Grant Professional and a Master Photographer.
As a writer and editor, Katie has authored and produced numerous exhibition catalogs, books, articles, and other publications documenting artists, collections, and cultural history. Among her notable projects are the landmark book documenting Florida CraftArt’s Permanent Collection and several exhibition publications that preserve and interpret the work of artists and craft practitioners. Her articles, reviews, and features have appeared in newspapers, magazines, and arts publications throughout Florida.
Throughout her career, Katie has combined creative practice with leadership, education, writing, and community engagement. She has taught at colleges (Barry University and Palm Beach State College), museums, and arts organizations, curated exhibitions, produced publications, and helped strengthen cultural institutions through strategic planning, advocacy, and organizational development.
