Wishbone Ash emerged in 1969 during a creatively fertile time in music history, as progressive rock was gaining momentum. Drawing on influences from British folk, American jazz, and R&B, the band quickly gained acclaim for their melodic sound and innovative twin lead guitar approach, which became a defining trait of their music. Over the next five decades, Wishbone Ash built a loyal global following through relentless touring and a strong catalog of albums. Founding member Andy Powell continues to lead the band, joined by longtime bassist Bob Skeat, guitarist Mark Abrahams, and drummer Mike Truscott. Their influence has reached generations of rock bands, from Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden to modern acts like Opeth. Wishbone Ash’s recording legacy includes classic albums like Argus, Pilgrimage, and New England, as well as later praised releases such as Blue Horizon and Coat of Arms.
