My abstract works are interpretations of what I see around me and what I have seen other places. The pieces are about expression and movement. I often combine several mediums, including oil, acrylic, graphite and wax on canvas, panel or paper. The art is constructed in an intuitive manner almost always starting with the circle shape. A simple shape that can be used as a metaphor when needing to describe relationships to others and/ or to things. As a piece starts, by responding to what is going on in my life, the process then responds to the development. Constantly moving things around by scumbling, rearranging, adding and subtracting, the painting comes together after many fluid thoughts and motions take over. The work pushes and pulls itself into completion. The inherent rawness does not take away from the painting’s sensitivity and sophistication.
